Trinidad (Bolivia) Joins The Food Capitals Network, Bringing Amazonian Gastronomy to the World Stage

Nestled in the heart of Bolivia’s Amazon basin, Trinidad is shaped by the living heritage of the Mojeño–Trinitario people and the cultural legacy of the Jesuit missions. Its gastronomy reflects a profound connection between territory, identity, and sustainability.

Drawing on the richness of its rivers and forests, Trinidad’s cuisine features freshwater fish, renowned Beni beef, cassava, maize, plantains, native cacao, tropical fruits, and local chilies: a true celebration of Amazonian biodiversity on the plate.

Today, the city places gastronomy at the center of its development strategy. Through initiatives such as a Traditional Gastronomy Workshop School and a Strategic Tourism Plan, Trinidad is safeguarding its culinary heritage while positioning food as a driver of sustainable tourism, youth empowerment, and local economic growth.
