The City of Wrocław and The Food Capitals by Délice Network are delighted to announce that Wrocław will host the 2027 Food Capitals Summit from 19 to 22 May 2027, marking a special milestone as the international network celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Bringing together city leaders, chefs, tourism professionals, policymakers, academics and food innovators from around the world, the Summit will explore how cities can harness the power of food and gastronomy to drive sustainable urban development, strengthen local identity, foster social inclusion and build connections across borders.
Founded in 2007 by the City of Lyon, France, The Food Capitals network has spent two decades connecting cities around a shared belief that food and gastronomy are powerful drivers of cultural identity, destination attractiveness, tourism development, economic opportunity, community well-being and international cooperation.
Wrocław's selection as host comes at an exciting moment for the city's culinary scene. Following a landmark year for local gastronomy, which saw the city's first Michelin stars awarded to restaurants BABA and MOST, three Bib Gourmand distinctions and a record 28 restaurants recognised by the prestigious Michelin Guide, Wrocław is gaining increasing international attention as a culinary destination.
This recognition reflects years of work to develop the city's gastronomic identity, bringing together talented chefs, innovative restaurants, local producers and a rich culinary heritage shaped by the diverse cultures and traditions of Wrocław and the wider Lower Silesia region.
Beyond its growing reputation for fine dining, Wrocław is also committed to strengthening connections between food, sustainability and the local economy. Initiatives such as “From Field to Wrocław Table”, which encourages collaboration between local producers and chefs, demonstrate how the city is promoting shorter supply chains, regional products and more sustainable approaches to gastronomy.
A member of The Food Capitals since 2022 and currently serving on the network's Executive Committee, Wrocław actively contributes to international exchanges and collaborations around food, tourism and sustainable urban development. Hosting the 2027 Summit will provide an opportunity to showcase these achievements and ambitions while welcoming fellow Food Capitals to discover the city's vibrant culinary ecosystem.
“Wrocław has been steadily building its reputation as one of Central Europe's most exciting culinary destinations, thanks to the talent of our chefs, the creativity of our restaurateurs and the quality of our regional producers. Hosting the Food Capitals Summit in 2027 is a wonderful opportunity to showcase this potential to the world, while celebrating 20 years of international cooperation through food and gastronomy. We look forward to welcoming our fellow Food Capitals to Wrocław, sharing our city's unique culinary identity and building new connections that will inspire the future of gastronomy in our cities.” – Jakub Mazur, Deputy Mayor of Wrocław.
The announcement follows the success of the inaugural Food Capitals Summit, hosted by Castelldefels, Spain, in May 2026. More than 70 participants representing nearly 30 cities across 20 countries gathered for a dynamic programme of discussions, exchanges and culinary experiences.
The 2026 Summit also introduced Chefs Beyond Borders, an initiative bringing together chefs representing 18 different cities to collaborate, discover local food traditions and explore the role of chefs as ambassadors for their cities and communities.
Building on this momentum, the 2027 edition in Wrocław will feature another cohort of Chefs Beyond Borders, creating new opportunities for international chefs to engage with Summit participants, local producers, culinary professionals, residents and visitors.
“Twenty years ago, The Food Capitals was founded on the belief that food could bring cities together and serve as a powerful force for positive change. That vision is more relevant than ever. Our anniversary Summit in Wrocław will be both a celebration of everything our cities have achieved together and an opportunity to shape the next chapter of our network. We're excited to continue building on the connections, creativity and collaborations that grow when cities come together around the table.” – Jessica Ferey, Executive Director of The Food Capitals.
Beyond celebrating 20 years of international collaboration, the Wrocław Summit will be an important opportunity to shape the future of the network. The programme will feature high-level panel discussions, presentations of innovative city initiatives, peer-to-peer learning and strategic working sessions. Member cities will work together to define shared priorities and contribute to the development of The Food Capitals' next strategic plan, setting a collective vision for the years ahead.
The 2027 Food Capitals Summit will take place in Wrocław, Poland, from 19 to 22 May 2027. Further information about the programme, speakers and participating cities will be announced in the coming months.
